FAQ’s

I work daytime hours during the week.

Usually it would be once a week. Sometimes people ask for more regular support. We can discuss this if you feel it could help you.

Usually sessions are 50 minutes long. Occasionally I see people for longer sessions, if that appeals then mention it and we can discuss what might work for you.

This will be unique to each individual. I don’t usually work with people for less than 3 or 4 months. Longer term work can last for several years. Ultimately you are in control of how long you want to continue.

Currently £75 for a 50 minute session.

It’s important to keep to our arranged session times when possible. Inevitably there will be occasions when things come up, I try to be flexible where possible and offer you another session time in the same week although that is not always possible. Pre-arranged holidays are possible within agreed boundaries.

Perhaps. Although not necessarily in the short term. Sometimes a part of the work is looking at or feeling things that have been avoided or defended against because they are distressing or painful. The idea is to move through through those feelings and emerge on the other side. This is not to say that the process is always painful; clients often report feeling better from our first conversation. Sometimes the feeling of taking action can really change that way people feel and begin to move things forward. It’s likely you will feel many different emotions throughout a therapeutic relationship; laughter, tears and everything in between are welcome.

You are in control of whether or when you want to stop. If you feel able, bring your feelings into the room and we can talk about them. Ideally we would have an ending process where we sit with the end of the work but sometimes that is not practically possible.

Everything we discuss is confidential in all but the most exceptional circumstances. These could be legal action (criminal or civil court cases where a court order is made demanding disclosure) and where there is good cause to believe that not to disclose would cause danger of serious harm to you or others.

I may share anonymous case histories with supervisors or peer-support groups to maintain an ethical and safe practice.
